Hi Helen, Doreen, Judy and Cedar and anyone else who is around! So much to do right? I've been weeding, planting, mulching and all that kind of stuff these nice days, and still lots to do. Just can't work as hard as I did in my younger years.

Judy, so sorry about your brother, it just doesn't seem like it has been 6 months. Take good care of yourself.

A pair of wrens have built a nest between the wreath and the house near the front door, so we try to steer clear of there till the babies come. Lots of robins and red birds around too with nests. Nice to sit on the deck and watch nature when we have the time!

God Bless!

I have ordered some interesting seeds but looking at feedback, which I should have done first, I'm doubting that I'll ever get them. I'm ready to get out and do yard work but still has been too wet. Just now had another hard shower, so there goes today! Of course there is always plenty to do right here in the house! Have a nice weekend!

Max, I found a few small plates tucked away (coasters maybe) 3 and 1/2 " in diameter white stoneware, Sterling China Company, marked in red in the center with the United States Army Medical Department logo. Sturdy, like restaurant ware. Think it also says East Liverpool, would that be Ohio?

My DH loves Oreos, but wants the plain old ones. Last week I was amazed at all the different flavors there are, mint, cocoa, coconut, double stuff, chocolate stuff. Just one tiny section devoted to the original. Yep I love to dunk them too!

You're right, I don't see Allie's post. As I scroll down I see plenty of mine, I don't want to monopolize this space. Sorry if I am.

MIM, So sorry about the dismal book sales that I'm sure involved lots of your time and work. Yesterday I spent an hour looking at final sales on ebay and it wasn't good. In the old days I remember a Stangl bird that I had picked up at auction for fifty dollars (had a chipped wing) and it sold for over three thousand dollars. Folks thought I was crazy for paying 50 bucks for it. The only books that I feel I could part with now are the price guide books that I haven't consulted for years.

Just added a post and drat I lost it. MAX, I just wanted to thank you for the restaurant ware info. A friend who has a booth in an antique mall told me that they don't see much of it anymore. And speaking of books, I know I must downsize my book collection, but as I scan them I'm finding it very hard to donate any of them. There isn't a room in this house, 4 bedrooms, family room, living room, DH's office and my sewing room also boxes in the basement, that do not house books. None are in the dining room. Yet! I did run across one yesterday, "The French" by Theodore Zeldin that I'm skimming today. Some chapters are interesting, others not so much.

Oh ALLIE, just noticed your post below! Glad to hear the root canal went well. And you can call me anything, Doris, Dori or even tutu! Always nice to hear from you. By the way, I love the new kitchen, DH is still having trouble adjusting to all the new appliances however. I do have pictures. Somewhere!

Hello to all, have a great weekend!

Hi MIM So sorry to hear that you've been under the weather. Coumadin levels can be so unpredictable, fine one day and way off the next! Hope all of this will soon be history, sorry too about gout, you've really had your share of Ouchies this Spring. Are you familiar with Carmel, IN? I have a friend who regretfully just moved away from there to be closer to family.

CEDAR Nice to see you back, so sorry that you also have been having health problems! Get better soon so you can get out in that garden and grow some good stuff! Right?

Yep, I'm tired of the election stuff too. Did you see old Newt napping yesterday? I thought it was funny...he had to "snap to" in a hurry, but was still befuddled me thinks!
Don't have time to scroll, but was just reading an article in the Wall Street Journal that reminded me of a chat we all had here some time ago about "baseboards". Remember? I think it was Max who called them something else and I'm trying to recall what it was. Must be in the Dictionary of American Regional English that was just reading about. The fuzzy things that collect under your bed, and what do you call them? In these parts we call them "dust bunnies", some other areas "frog hair". What do you all call them? Doris2

Doreen, I would be happy to share the recipe with you. Should I post it here, or send it to you via email? Oh well here goes: Just watch carefully after you turn them so they don't burn like mine did!

Spiced Pecans

1 egg white
2 tbs cold water
1/2 cup sugar
salt to taste (about 1/2 tsp)
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp allspice
1/8 tsp ground cloves
4 cups pecan halves

Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Combine everything but the nuts and mix well. Pour over the nuts and stir gently to be sure everything is well coated. Let rest 15 minutes. Turn out in a single layer on a greased baking pan (with low sides) and bake for 30 minutes. Carefully turn the nuts with a spatula and bake another 30 mins. Let cool, break apart and store in sealed containers. These keep for months.

Good Morning to All! Last day of November and where is everybody??? Our webmaster was kind enough to set this up for us but no one ever seems to be "at home". I know we're all busy, but we should try to check in once in a while! Right?

Busy day here today, and hurray, the sun is shining! Hope alla youse are okay, just holiday busy? Judy is busy with trees, others making cookies? I haven't started either, just agonizing over kitchen the redo.

Hi Doreen! When I was a kid we would go to Grandma's house on the farm and pick out a tree. There was a gorgeous blue spruce there, but we weren't allowed to cut that one down. Ever! They're such beautiful trees I couldn't say that I blamed her. It wasn't until I became older that I understood their value, especially in these parts.

Take care all, and here comes December with all its surprises. Weather that is. Doris

Max, We have a real good GC here too, but haven't made it out lately to see the chocolate tower. Not sure where our friends plan to go on Thursday.....guess it's supposed to be a surprise, and that's okay.

Really, we need our heads examined. One small thing that needed changing in the kitchen looks like will be an all out remodel, and at this time of year, eek! This is to start in 2 weeks so will do what baking I plan to do this week. I'm a little short in the energy department so better have my Wheaties!

Lots of folks missing here, Jan, Cedar, Doris, Allie. Where are you guys?

Doreen, Happy Belated Birthday!

Mim, So glad to hear you are feeling better!

And Judy! How many trees did you say? I'll do well to drag out my old Martha Stewart white feather tree, that I'm sure isn't as "white" as it was 6 or 7 years ago! DH would like us to get a real tree this year. With all the remodel going on whatever we have probably will be covered in sawdust!

Happy weekend to All! Do you all get flu shots? I'm debating, usually we don't. Doris#2
